Health Guarantee

At Flying Feather Farm, our relationship with you continues well beyond the day your puppy comes home.  We are puppy lovers and pray nothing would ever go wrong with any puppy.  But a puppy's health is dependent on a number of factors like genetics, exercise, food, nutrition, and overall care that are not always within our control. 

While we can't guarantee that your puppy will never have a health problem, we can promise we will do our best to ensure your new family member is healthy from the moment he or she arrives home! 

We offer a health guarantee to help give you peace of mind.  We strive to only breed the healthiest dogs, and in turn, have the confidence to offer a 2 year extended Health Warranty. Our puppy parents have all been tested and cleared for genetic diseases, cardiac, orthopedic and ophthalmic abnormalities before entering our breeding program.

We follow the strict health testing requirements of the Goldendoodle Association of America, (GANA), at the blue ribbon level, which has the most extensive health testing requirements. In other words, we do everything possible to provide you with a healthy and happy puppy.  Below is a list of tests/abnormalities our dogs are checked for, not all dogs are checked for every abnormality, only those breeds prone to the disease or condition:
 

HEART-every dog is cleared by veterinarian cardiologist
EYE Companion Animal Eye Registry (CAER)- every dog is cleared by veterinarian ophthalmologist

HIPS & ELBOWS-every dog is cleared by physical rehab veterinarian for dysplasia (test results must be fair or better to remain in breeding program).​

PATELLAS-poodle and goldendoodle cleared by physical rehab veterinarian for dysplasia (test results must be fair or better to remain in breeding program).​

DEGENERATIVE MYELOPATHY-every dog is cleared for adult-onset spinal cord disorder.
ICHTHYOSIS-golden retrievers and goldendoodle cleared for genetic scaling skin disorder (dandruff).

NEONATAL ENCEPPHALOPATHY with SEIZURES (NEwS)-poodles and goldendoodle cleared for this inherited disease of the brain that becomes apparent soon after the pups are born; weak, small, uncoordinated, mentally dull. 

VON WILLEBRAND DISEASE (vWD)-poodles and goldendoodles cleared for inherited blood clotting disorder.​

PROGRESSIVE RETINAL ATROPHY, PROGRESSIVE ROD-CONE DEGENERATION (PRA-PRCD)-every dog is cleared for a category of different progressive conditions eventually leading to blindness. 

PROGRESSIVE RETINAL ATROPHY, GOLDEN RETRIEVER 1 & 2 (GR-PRA 1&2)-golden retrievers and goldendoodle cleared for a late-onset inherited eye disease that causes total blindness.
